AKRON, OHIO – For LIVESTRONG Day, October 2, 2009, The University of Akron’s Epsilon Sigma Chapter of Alpha Sigma Phi Fraternity, Inc. is holding their first Annual Bike-A-Thon on October 3rd, 2009. LIVESTRONG Day is the Lance Armstrong Foundation’s (LAF) one-day initiative to unite people affected by cancer in raising awareness of cancer issues in communities across the world.
This event will be held to support Alpha Sigma Phi’s new National Philanthropy, The Lance Armstrong Foundation. Alpha Sigma Phi constantly strives to better themselves by giving back to the community. Founded in 1997, the Lance Armstrong Foundation is a main source of funding for cancer research. We all have been affected by cancer in some way; through the support of this organization, we can continue to strive to find a cure for cancer and assist those who have been afflicted by this terrible disease.
On Saturday, October 3rd, 2009, the Bike-A-Thon will begin at 8:30 A.M. at the Cascade Valley Trailhead of the Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath on North St. The store address is 248 Ferndale Street, Akron, OH 44304. Riders will have options of completing a six-mile or a fourteen-mile course. The event will conclude by 12:00 P.M.
LIVESTRONG Day 2009 will create a global day of action in the cancer fight one person, one act and one location at a time.
