BEXLEY, OHIO – On Thursday, October 22, 2009, a new colony was established at Capital University in Bexley, Ohio, a suburb of Columbus. Efforts at Capital University first began in August 2009. Capital becomes the fourth colony established by the Fraternity in the last few months proceeded by the University of Alabama, Oakland University, and Wayne State University.
The Pledge and Colonization Ceremony took place on the Capital campus. More than twenty men participated in the ceremony. The event was attended by undergraduate men from the Epsilon Theta Chapter at Otterbein College and several alumni who live in the Columbus area.
Capitals fraternity/sorority community is composed of local and national professional, service, and general Greek-letter organizations. Chi Theta Pi, Delta Tau Epsilon, Kappa Sigma Epsilon, Pi Phi Epsilon, Sigma Alpha Beta, and Zeta Pi Lambda are currently on campus.
Capital is the oldest university in Central Ohio. It was founded in 1830 by the Lutheran Church and is currently affiliated with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA). Capital is one of the oldest and largest Lutheran-affiliated universities in North America with an educational mission based on Lutheran values of: Free inquiry, Critical thinking, and Leadership.
