CARMEL, INDIANA - The Fraternity’s volunteer ranks continue to grow. Recently the Grand Council approved four men to serve as a Grand Chapter Advisor. Here is a brief bio on each of the four men. Read below to learn how you can volunteer to serve the Old Gal.
Rennselaer Polytechnical Institute – Erik Hammel, RPI ‘98
Erik is a Ph.D. candidate at RPI who has been involved with the chapter for the past 12 years. Most recently, Erik has been acting in an advisory role to the undergraduate brothers. He is excited about the wealth of consistency and chapter history he offers and wants the chapter to maintain its air of camaraderie while maintaining very high academics. Erik believes in living our five Values and brings a “gung ho” attitude about principles he shares with the undergraduate brothers. Brother Hammel was recommended by immediate past Grand Chapter Advisor Bradley Jonas, RPI ’99 and by the members of Beta Psi Chapter.
California State University—Chico (Colony) – Spencer Ansorge, Northern Michigan ‘06
Spencer is a high school teacher and track coach. He looks forward to his role as GCA of a new chapter and wants to instill the need to recruit the right kind of members to ensure success. Spencer says he learned the value of responsibility, accountability and assertiveness as a peer role model during his undergraduate years and hopes to pass along those traits to our newest brothers. He believes in helping others develop and succeed by living and sharing Alpha Sigma Phi’s values. Larry Bassow, Greek advisor at Chico, highly recommended Spencer for the role as GCA.
University of California—Davis (Colony) – Jeff Brehmer, UC Berkeley ‘85
Jeff is attending culinary school after a career as a sales representative for a vineyard and sales consultant for the wine and spirits industry. A near fatal auto accident changed his life priorities, and both he and his wife are speakers for MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Driving). Jeff is excited to share his life experiences, the Fraternity’s Values, and his working knowledge of the UC-Davis campus as the new chapter forms and thrives. He also wants to instill in the chapter the need for diversity and attention to details in chapter operations.
San Francisco State University (Colony) – Brian Lillie, UCLA ‘86
Brian owns an event staffing business with locations in multiple states. He attributes his fraternity experience with helping him maximize his abilities before starting his career, giving him the tools needed to handle the successes and failures encountered in business life. Brian saw the fraternity as an oasis during college life, believing Alpha Sigma Phi Fraternity was his home within the home of the UCLA campus – experiences he hopes to help the new chapter establish. He believes being the GCA is a wonderful opportunity to re-engage and get involved in Alpha Sigma Phi and to help the chapter develop on solid footing.
