CARMEL, INDIANA – The Fraternity is excited to announce that it has partnered with Harris Connect (formally Harris Directory) to produce the Alpha Sigma Phi Members Today Directory. The last directory produced by the Fraternity was released in 2004. This will be the first-time the Fraternity has produced a directory where members can submit pictures and/or essays. It is important to note that you do not have to purchase the Directory to update your contact information, so even if you are not interested in purchasing the Directory, we encourage you to update your contact information. 1. What is the Alpha Sigma Phi Members Today Directory publication?
The 2010 Alpha Sigma Phi Members Today Directory is our publication that will feature contact information for initiated members. Scheduled for release in the fall of 2010, the 2010 Alpha Sigma Phi Members Today Directory will be the most up-to-date and complete reference of members.
This comprehensive volume will include current name and academic information, as well as business, professional, residential and family information for members. The edition will list alumni by chapter and by geographic location.
2. Are both active and inactive chapter members going to be included in the directory?
Yes, all 144 chapters will be included in the directory.
3. Why are you publishing a membership directory?
The directory will enable brothers to find one another and to keep in touch. Alpha Sig creates a membership directory every four to five years, and has partnered with publisher Harris Connect on the project since 1997. In order to create the book, we collect the most accurate and up-to-date information possible from members. This allows us to keep in touch with you and to let you know through future communication what is happening with the Fraternity.
4. The postcard I received has a Virginia return address – why isn’t it from Indiana?
We’ve contracted with Harris Connect to work on our behalf to produce the Directory and help us update our database. Since they are working on our behalf, they are managing the collection process and thus have sent information from their office in Virginia.
5. How do I ensure that I am included in the membership directory?
By now, all initiated members should have received a postcard or an e-mail from Harris that informs them about the directory project. You may call Harris at 800-673-3209 to update and verify your information. You may exclude certain information from being displayed in the directory, but it is important that you update all information, as it is then in our records at Alpha Sigma Phi Headquarters.
In order to be included in the directory, you must respond no later than September 20, 2010.
Harris will also let you know how you can reserve a copy of the directory.
6. Why does Harris Connect want me to call? Why can’t I update my information online?
We’ve asked Harris to have everyone contact them, primarily to make absolutely sure that the data we have is current. You’d be surprised how many people change jobs or move between the time they update online and the time the book is ready to print. Plus, we want to be sure that all spelling is correct so that our book is accurate and useful.
7. Does Harris Connect use or sell our information for any other purposes?
No. Harris Connect understands the importance of maintaining the confidentiality of our database. Our contract with them strictly forbids them from selling or giving this information to a third party.
For more than 40 years, Harris has protected the security of literally thousands of databases from universities and colleges throughout North America. Harris remains steadfast in its commitment to protect the integrity of our data at all times.
Harris’s privacy policy is available online at www.alumniconnections.com/olq/privacy.html
8. How can I order my copy of the membership directory?
You can reserve your copy by September 20, 2010, by calling Harris at 800-673-3209. The book is available in hardcover and in soft cover. A CD that includes the directory information is also available for an additional fee.
While on the phone, you can also purchase a copy of the recently released to Better the Man Manual.
