FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
SEPTEMBER 11, 2011 | 8:46 AM EDTThomas E. Sinton III, Lehigh '79

CARMEL, INDIANA – As the nation reflects and remembers the tenth anniversary of September 11th, our Fraternity pays tribute to the men and women who lost their lives that day. We also honor those men and women who risked their lives to help those in need in New York, Washington, and Shanksville, Pennsylvania.

The Fraternity would also like to pay special tribute to Thomas E. Sinton III, Lehigh ’79, the only known Brother to lose his life in the terrorist attacks. Brother Sinton was a Senior Vice President at Canton Fitzgerald, one of the one thousand Cantor Fitzgerald employees that worked on floors 101-105 of the North Tower of the World Trade Center, close to the point where the first plane made impact. 658 employees of Cantor Fitzgerald were lost in the attack.

Sinton was 41 years old and lived in Croton-on-Hudson, New York. He is survived by his wife Cathy Carilli, daughter Alexandra, parents Susan M. and Thomas E. Sinton Jr., of Upper Saddle River, sisters Jill and Sally and their families and grandmother Margaret Creter. A fund has been established for his daughter: College Bound Fund c/o Jill Polansky, 75 Hiawatha Boulevard, Oakland, NJ 07436.

Our chapters will commemorate this day by participating in college and university memorials, donating blood, and volunteering. By their actions these are men who live our values, strive for greatness, and want to become better men. Each will mark this day in a manner they deem most appropriate.

Today, we remember the sacrifices of so many and the will of our great nation. Our thoughts and prayers are with our Brothers, men, and women serving our armed forces overseas and here at home. We also pause to honor the men and women serving as first responders – thank you for your service to your country.
