Frequently Asked Questions

Where can I learn about New Orleans?
The city of New Orleans provides a great resource in the way of their website. For attractions, restaurant suggestions, and travel information visit their website: www.neworleansonline.com

What weather should we expect in New Orleans?
Hot, humid, and sticky. The average high in August is 91 degrees and the average low is 74 degrees. Typically in August it rains once per day, usually in the afternoon. You are encouraged to bring additional clothing as you may need to change throughout the day. The hotel we’re staying in does have air condition, but if you decide to explore you’ll want something fresh to change into afterwards.

What happens if a Hurricane is approaching New Orleans?
The Fraternity has worked with city officials to develop several contingency plans and will be well briefed on emergency procedures should the need arise. In the unlikely event that a Hurricane is headed towards New Orleans while we are in the city, Fraternity Staff will work with local officials to determine if and when evacuation is required. Should a Hurricane be headed towards New Orleans prior to Grand Chapter – visit the Fraternity’s website for up to date information about the program.

Are children welcome at Grand Chapter events?
Children are more than welcome to attend all meals and events. We would discourage children from attending the business meeting and educational session. Highchairs are available upon request through Fraternity Staff office while onsite. Highchairs are not available at the Thursday Welcome Reception or Friday Recognition Reception. If you would like for your child to attend, please contact Fraternity Headquarters to obtain the special pricing.

In case of an Emergency – Whom Should I call?
Please contact Steve Latour or Denis Beaudoin while on-site. If you have a travel-related update or general questions prior to Grand Chapter please contact Steve Latour. His contact information will be available in the Attendee Handbook distributed to registered attendees prior to the conference.

Where are Fraternity Headquarters Staff located at the hotel?
The Fraternity Headquarters office will be open in the hotel (Fulton Room) from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. each day – Wednesday through Saturday. If the door is closed, use a house phone to page a staff member to the room.

Yes, all guest rooms have Wi-Fi Internet access, but there is a charge. Review the information in your hotel room before you subscribe to Wi-Fi service. The Fraternity will not reimburse you for internet access.
