About the Academy of Leadership You have the potential to change the game. To create a winning team like none your campus has ever seen before. Here is your opportunity to leave your mark... your legacy.
All You Have is this One Shot.
The Academy of Leadership is designed to help you learn how to harness your potential, review strategies for success, create a plan of attack, and become the greatest leader you can be. While there are some large-group presentations, most of the Academy is spent in small-groups, discussing the issues on your mind.
Academy is held in an environment that allows you to learn from other Brothers holding the same position in their groups; share in brotherhood with over 300 Alpha Sigs from across the country; and learn skills and techniques on how to be a legendary leader. One of the best parts about Academy...
There is NO cost to attend.
If your registration form is received by December 6th then your chapter, colony, and interest group pays nothing to attend. If we receive your completed form after December 6th then the chapter/colony/interest group will be invoiced $100 per man to attend. Each group will pay this amount even if you don't attend, so the only way to save this money is to register prior to December 6th.
This year we've raised the bar to provide a better experience for you. Here are some highlights:
No more multiple camps in the mountains in the winter. This year Academy will be held at an upscale hotel in Indianapolis, IN — with real beds.
No more blue jeans, t-shirts and hats. This year the dress attire is business seminar style, dress pants, collared shirt, tie, belt, appropriate socks and dress shoes, and badge. Dress for Success!
Fewer lectures and being talked at. Instead, more group discussions and sharing — talking about things that are important to you and your particular situation — getting help from peers who have ‘figured it out’.
This is an investment in you. It builds off of the Burns Institute experience guiding you from leading yourself to working with a team in leading your Chapter, Colony, or Interest Group to success.
This is about the self-fulfilling prophecy. If we expect you to act like the leadership team of your Chapter (business), then we will treat you and expect you to act like business leaders during the Academy. This is about raising the bar!
What better way to send you off charged to ‘make a difference’ than to have a nationally renowned keynote speaker pump you up on Sunday morning.
Academy Facilitators This year a team of seasoned alumni volunteers will serve as facilitators. These men have walked the talk of Alpha Sigma Phi far into their alumnus membership and business life. They bring a variety of real life experiences about leadership and the value of their fraternity experience in shaping their successful business careers.
What past attendees have to say…
"It was amazing to see that many Alpha Sigs all in one place. I learned so much and couldn't wait to get back to campus and put my plan into action" - Ryan Addis, Grand Valley '08
"My experience was outstanding. Things just started to click and quickly understood that I had the potential make things happen. I now feel fully prepared to serve as the Chapter President." - Brent Bowers, Capital '10
"Coming from a Colony I didn't know what to expect. The guys were friendly and offered tons of advice. This was the first time I really felt like I was part of a national organization" - Phil Pachtman, UC-Davis '10
"I've had the great fortune to participate in a number of leadership programs since getting to Chico State, but I've never been to one like this before. Maybe it's because it felt like home, but I think it's because I feel prepared and have the tools to create a winning team at Chico." - Kyle DeDiminicantanio, Chico State '11
